As we outlined on the online information meetings, we are asking members/family for a donation of €1000. It’s a big, ambitious project which is why we have this big ask.

Detailed Tax Information
Clane GAA Sport Body Number: GS 2288
Clane GAA Approved Project Number: R-11-29-046
The Charitable Donation Scheme allows tax relief on qualifying donations made to approved bodies. The form that is required to be completed is the SPR1 Cert - TAX RELIEF FOR DONATIONS TO AN APPROVED SPORTS BODY.
- If an individual donates €250 or more in a year, the approved body can claim a refund of tax paid on that donation.
- If a company donates €250 or more in a year, the company can claim a tax deduction as if the donation was a trading expense.
A donation will qualify under the Charitable Donation Scheme if it is:
- a payment of at least €250 made in a single year.
- a payment of less than €1m made in a single year.
- in the form of money or designated securities, or a combination of money and shares
- not repayable.
Any payments you make by standing order or direct debit will also qualify.
As a donor, you must not receive any benefit, either directly or indirectly, as a result of the donation. This also applies to any person connected to you.
The relief is calculated by grossing up the donation at the rate tax was paid by the individual. The amount of the refund cannot be more than the amount of tax paid by the donor for the same year.
- A donation of €1,000 at the standard rate (20%) will give the club a further €250 from revenue.
- A donation of €1,000 at the higher rate (40%) will give the club a further €666.67 from revenue.
Once a donation is received the treasurer will be in touch to facilitate the collection of your completed SPR1 Cert and to answer any additional queries you may have regarding the transfer. You can also post the form to the club or eMail the completed form to treasurer.clane.kildare@gaa.ie.
