As we outlined on the online information meetings, we are asking members/family for a donation of €1000.  We are aware this is a lot of money and we want to reiterate that it is not our intention to put anyone under pressure but if people are able to, we will very much appreciate the contribution. It’s a big, ambitious project which is why we have this big ask.

Your Payment Options

  • Direct transfer or lodgement to the club development account
Using the bank account details above pay €1,000 into the club development account. Please ensure you include your name as a payment reference. You can then download and complete the TAX RELIEF FOR DONATIONS TO AN APPROVED SPORTS BODY (SPR1 Cert) form - click here to download. Please contact our club Treasurer Helen Bray for further instructions.

  • Avail of the Clane GAA Development - Credit Union Loan Facility

We have made arrangements with the Credit Union in Clane to allow our members and supporters to borrow €1,000 at low interest up to a maximum term of 5 years and can be repaid for as low as €4 per week. You do need to be a member of the Credit Union to avail of a loan but this is an easy process which can be completed online.

Clane GAA members can visit www.clcu.ie to apply for a loan or to become a member, it can be done from the comfort of your own home, alternatively members can contact Martin Fitzgerald on 087 979 8300 or at martin.fitzgerald@clcu.ie for further information.

  • Standing Order
We can facilitate a standing order payment over a 12/24-month period.  Please email Helen on treasurer.clane.kildare@gaa.ie and she will send you a standing order form and further details.

Your €1,000 contribution can become up to €1,666.67

Since Clane GAA have Charitable Status for this project, if a personal donation over €250 is made to the club via the club Treasurer, the club are able to benefit by claiming the tax back from the Revenue (this requires you to fill in the aforementioned SPR1 Cert form – click here to download the form).

So, for example

  • A donation of €1,000 at the standard rate (20%) will give the club a further €250 from revenue.
  • A donation of €1,000 at the higher rate (40%) will give the club a further €666.67 from revenue.

Please note: The tax relief cannot be claimed by our club Treasurer until the end of 2021 / beginning of 2022.

Please see more detailed instructions around the Tax benefits below.

Detailed Tax Information

Clane GAA Sport Body Number: GS 2288

Clane GAA Approved Project Number: R-11-29-046

The Charitable Donation Scheme allows tax relief on qualifying donations made to approved bodies. The form that is required to be completed is the SPR1 Cert - TAX RELIEF FOR DONATIONS TO AN APPROVED SPORTS BODY.

  • If an individual donates €250 or more in a year, the approved body can claim a refund of tax paid on that donation.
  • If a company donates €250 or more in a year, the company can claim a tax deduction as if the donation was a trading expense.

A donation will qualify under the Charitable Donation Scheme if it is:

  • a payment of at least €250 made in a single year.
  • a payment of less than €1m made in a single year.
  • in the form of money or designated securities, or a combination of money and shares
  • not repayable.

Any payments you make by standing order or direct debit will also qualify.

As a donor, you must not receive any benefit, either directly or indirectly, as a result of the donation. This also applies to any person connected to you.

The relief is calculated by grossing up the donation at the rate tax was paid by the individual. The amount of the refund cannot be more than the amount of tax paid by the donor for the same year.

  • A donation of €1,000 at the standard rate (20%) will give the club a further €250 from revenue.
  • A donation of €1,000 at the higher rate (40%) will give the club a further €666.67 from revenue.

Once a donation is received the treasurer will be in touch to facilitate the collection of your completed SPR1 Cert and to answer any additional queries you may have regarding the transfer. You can also post the form to the club or eMail the completed form to treasurer.clane.kildare@gaa.ie.
