While last Sunday wasn't the result we all wanted in the Senior Football Final, it was still a very special day for the club.

It was a first senior football final in 24 years and marked a tremendous year of progression for the team and indeed the club as a whole. Our Senior Hurlers reached the championship semi-final and Division 1B league final; our Camógs won the Junior B League and Championship double and our Ladies Football did very well in the Intermediate Championship and were unlucky not to reach a semi-final. Our underage teams continue to go from strength to strength and our numbers are growing across all codes. And of course we are nearing the completion of the next major club development. Lots to look forward to.

Back to last Sunday and we celebrated our hero's of 1997, the Jubilee Senior Football Team; the last team to win a senior football championship for Clane.

The day started off with a dinner in the main hall for the team and their guests after which they were transported to Newbridge by bus where they appeared on the pitch at Half Time in the Senior match. They were called out 1 by 1 and presented with their jubilee medal by the chairperson of the Kildare county board Mick Gorman.

Dessie Marron also had the honour of singing Amhrán na bhFiann before the start of the senior final.

Finally a big thanks to everyone who supported the team, hung flags and bunting around the village, to all the teams who sent in their video messages of support, to all the staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly over the weekend and over last few weeks and most of all to Tom, his backroom team and all the players!
