This Sunday will see our U16 football team and management face Suncroft in the KWETB Kildare U16 A Football Championship final. They will be looking to complete a league and championship double after having secured the KWETB League Division 1 title earlier this year in May.

The team overcame Maynooth and Sallins in the first 2 rounds of the championship before narrowly losing out to their opponents in this Sundays final, Suncroft in their 3rd round fixture (2-13 to 2-12). That meant they faced the harder route to the final. First up was a very tough quarter final away to league finalists Athy, last Friday evening which they negotiated well to set up a semi-final against Moorefield last Sunday. The very quick turnaround between matches was a real cause for concern and fully tested the depth of the squad, but they came through with flying colours to set up a mouth-watering final this Sunday.

The team and management of Ger Fanning, Tony Tighe, John O 'Doherty and John Ball have put in a huge amount of work this year and deserve the full backing of the club on Sunday. They'll need all the support they can get if they are to overcome a very good Suncroft team and we wish them all the very best of luck.

Please get out and support the team and management. Throw in is at 11.45am on Sunday at St. Conleths Park in Newbridge. The final is preceded by the U16 B decider between Kilcock and Newtown Gaels which throws in at 10.15. Please note that there will be 2 x 10 minute periods of extra time in the event of a drawn match (this applies to both fixtures).
