Latest match report:

Under 8 Football Match  Clane v Sallins        Saturday April 24th

Clane took a strong team to Sallins to play a GO GAMES match in the under 8 Group 5 of the North Board. There was a very strong breeze blowing from the canal and Clane had this for the first two quarters.

The goals were a lot smaller than the ones we normally use and made it more difficult to score.

Clane started well and a lot of ball went into the forwards from Oisin O’ Sullivan and Noel Austin. Harry O’ Neill caught a great pass from Oisin and put the ball over the bar. Then from the kickout, Mark Mulqueen caught the ball and it bounced straight over the goalkeeper for a goal.

Clane were well on top at this stage and Oisin scored a point from near the centre of the field. The football only went into the Clane half on one or two occasions but Sam Hillyer and Jack Cahalane cleared the danger.

Niall Little played in goal for the first quarter and kicked the ball out well.

Clane played the same direction in the second quarter but despite a lot of pressure and good play from Donal O’ Donovan, we did not add to the score.

Half time score: Clane 3 Sallins 0

So Clane faced into 2 quarters of 10 minutes a piece playing against a strong wind. The two Ryans, O’ Connell and Cahill came on in the forwards and with Padhraic O’ Doherty managed to keep the ball in the Sallins half. Enda Drewe went into goals and with the help of Kieran Mylod, Sean Sheridan and Jamie Warner managed to keep Sallins scoreless. Aidan Mooney was now playing in midfield with Harry O’ Neill and they were under a lot of pressure from Sallins. Sallins finally got a point but that was it and Clane ended up winners on the score of

Clane 3   Sallins 1

Clane remain unbeaten.
